I'm currently working on a simplified face detection library, OpenFADE (Open Source FAce DEtection), which should be as simple to use as OpenSURF. It will be completely free to use in both open and closed source Computer Vision applications. Keep checking this page for updates or subscribe to the Twitter feed an I'll post an update when it's available.
